Commissioner General of Police Submits 246-Baht Gold Bribery Case to Prosecutor for Review

Bangkok: The Commissioner General of Police has forwarded the case file concerning the 246-baht gold bribery to the prosecutor for consideration. The Police Chief revealed the complexity of the case and has deferred further details to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which is set to hold a press conference tomorrow. Furthermore, he described the move by "Big Jok" (Chief of Police) to send lawyers to sue "Big Tao" (Police General Surachate Hakparn) as a normal procedure. According to Thai News Agency, Police General Kittirat Phanphet, the Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, addressed the situation at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters. He spoke about an inquiry made by Police Colonel Pakphum Phismay, a former deputy commander and close subordinate of Police General Surachet Hakparn, regarding the progress of the bribery case. The inquiry was submitted and received following standard procedure, with the legal department assigned to handle it and provide insights. The Anti-Corruption and Miscond uct Suppression Division, under the Central Investigation Bureau, has taken charge of the ongoing investigations. The Commissioner General confirmed that the investigative team had submitted the detailed and complex case file to the prosecutor. He emphasized the importance of thorough evidence collection and suggested contacting the investigative team from the Anti-Corruption and Misconduct Suppression Division (ACMSD) for further information. A press conference is scheduled for tomorrow to provide additional details on the investigation. In response to questions about Police General Surachet instructing his lawyer to file a defamation lawsuit against Police Major General Jaroonkiat Panngew, Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, Police General Kittirat stated that it is common for the accused to pursue legal action against officers involved in the case. He assured that the investigative team is following all legal procedures.
