Bangkok: Phatthalung has experienced continuous rain, causing landslides in several areas along the Khlong Pa Bon reservoir. The persistent heavy rain in the region has led to the flooding of main roads and caused substantial mountain soil collapse in several locations. This has resulted in damage to rubber plantations and fruit orchards in the Pa Bon District.
According to Thai News Agency, the heavy rainfall has left water levels high, with floodwaters rendering the Thale Noi-Ranot route in Songkhla Province impassable. Rescue operations are underway, with emergency workers evacuating residents trapped in their homes. Among those needing assistance was a couple whose vehicle was submerged in the Khao Chaison District, forcing them to wait for help throughout the night.
The continuous downpour has weakened the mountain soil's ability to retain water, leading to multiple landslides along the Khlong Pa Bon Reservoir's banks. These landslides have not only damaged local agriculture but have also isolated the Mani or Sakai village by cutting off access routes. Furthermore, the reservoir's water overflowed its spillway, moving into the Pa Bon District lake before reaching Pak Phayun District, albeit slowly due to rising sea levels.
