Bangkok: The Secretary-General of the Council of State has urged patience regarding the accusations against Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, concerning his alleged involvement as a director and shareholder in a company. Mr. Pakorn Nilpraphun, the Secretary-General, emphasized that the law must be adhered to strictly and highlighted that the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is currently investigating the matter.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pakorn refrained from commenting on any potential legal violations, stating that expressing personal opinions could lead to public misunderstanding. He reiterated the importance of following the constitution and legal frameworks without creating unnecessary public confusion.
When probed about any objections from the Council of State regarding the situation, Mr. Pakorn reaffirmed that the Council's actions were in strict accordance with the law. He maintained that whatever the legal text specifies is what guides their stance on such issues.
On the question of whether Mr. Pirapan can continue to hold his ministerial position amid the allegations, Mr. Pakorn declined to provide a definitive answer. He expressed uncertainty about the factual details of the case but reiterated the importance of adhering to the existing legal framework.
Regarding concerns about the implications of the investigation, Mr. Pakorn expressed a lack of worry and conveyed trust in the ability of the NACC to manage the investigation appropriately.
