Bangkok: A construction crane collapsed onto a busy highway southwest of Bangkok on Thursday morning, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuring two others. This incident adds to the series of accidents that have plagued the notorious Rama 2 Road.

According to Thai News Agency, the collapse occurred at approximately 9:15 am on the outbound lanes near the Samut Sakhon Provincial Transport Office, shortly before the Tha Chin Bridge. The crane, which was being utilized for an elevated highway project, fell across the central median, causing significant damage by crushing at least two vehicles.

In response to the incident, police and emergency rescue teams quickly cordoned off the area and partially closed the highway to manage the traffic. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the structural failure and are currently reviewing the safety protocols in place at the construction site.
