Thanyaburi: A car rear-ended a cyclist, leading to his death, and then fled the scene early this morning on the road in front of Fa Green Park Village, Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok 68 Road, Khlong 3, Moo 1, Bueng Yitho Subdistrict, Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at approximately 4:00 AM when a white sedan collided violently with a bicycle in the left lane. The driver of the sedan did not stop to check on the victim but drove away at high speed. Rescue workers arrived promptly after receiving the report and performed CPR on the victim, a man estimated to be around 65-70 years old, for over 30 minutes. Despite their efforts, they were unable to revive him. At the scene, a red bicycle, a broken basket strap, and some fried dough sticks were found, but no identification documents were present, only a fanny pack with some cash.
A security guard at Baan Fah Green Park reported hearing the crash and seeing the aftermath, where the cyclist was found lying face up on the sidewalk, barely breathing. The guard immediately notified the police and rescue services.
Police at Thanyaburi Police Station are working to trace the escape route of the sedan and identify the deceased. They plan to send the body for an autopsy at the hospital and search for relatives to claim the body and conduct funeral rites as per tradition.
