Bangkok: Starting March 2, the Department of Land Transport will open a One Stop Service center for registering vehicles for hire via app, offering the service until March 31, 2026, including public holidays. The initiative aims to streamline the registration process for ride-hailing services and ensure compliance with upcoming regulations.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced the department's preparations to facilitate vehicle registration ahead of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) regulations, which will take effect on March 31, 2026. The center will provide comprehensive services, including registration, vehicle inspection, document verification, and fee payments, at the Bangkok Metropolitan Transport Office Area 5 in Chatuchak. The services will be available from March 2 to March 31, 2026, between 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM.
The Department of Land Transport has emphasized the importance of proper vehicle registration for app-based services. Groups wishing to register multiple vehicles can schedule appointments for a more efficient process. Additionally, provincial transport offices nationwide have been briefed to ensure standardized registration procedures for public motorcycles and taxis.
The deputy spokesperson highlighted that the One Stop Service center aims to expedite the legal integration of drivers into the public transportation system, enhancing confidence among service providers and passengers ahead of the full implementation of Ride Sharing regulations. Ms. Lalida underscored that the government's restructuring efforts focus on enhancing service standards to ensure safety and fairness in the public transportation system, rather than eliminating jobs.
