Bangkok: Deputy Minister of Commerce, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, has taken legal action against two Members of Parliament from the Prachachon Party, accusing them of defamation concerning allegations related to the purchase of the SKYY9 building.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Pawadee Saengchan, the legal representative for Mr. Suchart Chomklin, filed a lawsuit at the Ratchada Criminal Court targeting a Bangkok MP, with initials R, and a Chonburi MP, with initials S, both from the Prachachon Party. The lawsuit stems from accusations that the Social Security Office acquired the SKYY9 building in the Rama 9 area for approximately 7 billion baht during Mr. Suchart’s tenure as Minister of Labor.
Ms. Phawadi stated that the legal action was necessary to safeguard Mr. Suchart Chomklin’s reputation in light of the claims made by the MPs, which led to public criticism and misunderstandings. The lawsuit demands 50 million baht in damages for defamation by advertising. She emphasized that the actions of the two MPs have insulted and tarnished the reputation of former Bangkok MPs, thus prompting the legal proceedings. However, Ms. Phawadi mentioned that Mr. Suchart might be open to a compromise if the opposing party requests for the case to be dropped, as he is considered a reasonable adult willing to offer opportunities.
The court has scheduled a hearing to examine the case’s facts on May 26, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., where Mr. Suchart Chomklin and the involved parties are expected to attend.
