Ubon ratchathani: Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, presided over the cremation ceremony of Ms. Wiparak Phaophuri, who tragically lost her life in a train-bus collision at the Makkasan railway crossing. The ceremony took place at Wat Suan Sawan in Ubon Ratchathani Province, where the Deputy Minister extended his deepest condolences to the family and paid his respects to the deceased.
According to Thai News Agency, the funeral was attended by prominent figures including Mr. Kittikan Chomduang Charuwarapholkul, Director of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), and Mr. Anan Pothinimdaeng, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), along with other executives. They participated in the Buddhist funeral rites, dedicating merit to Ms. Wiparak. The BMTA Director presented compensation to the family on behalf of the insurance company.
Mr. Siripong emphasized the commitment of the Ministry of Transport to expedite the compensation process, ensuring the family receives all entitled benefits swiftly. The Deputy Minister reiterated that the compensation presented includes a portion to cover all benefits owed to the family.
Additionally, Mr. Kittikan assigned representatives to attend funerals of other victims, including Mrs. Euang Manojam in Samut Prakan Province, Mr. Tigha Tigha-utamakorn in Bangkok, and Mr. Thananchaphipat Khiaowijit in Pathum Thani Province. The BMTA management and special task force were instructed to provide support and assistance to the bereaved families, demonstrating their solidarity and concern during these difficult times.
