Drone Attack Targets U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: The U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia was attacked by drones, leading to a fire and partial damage to the building. Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry revealed this information on the X platform, stating that two drones were involved in the attack on the U.S. embassy in Riyadh.

According to Thai News Agency, the attack took place amid ongoing missile and drone strikes by Iran against Gulf states hosting U.S. bases. This follows a series of attacks on Iran by the U.S. and Israel. Three sources familiar with the incident reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing flames at the embassy early Tuesday morning. While one source noted that the fire was not serious, reports of black smoke rising over the embassy district were also noted.

Two additional sources confirmed that there were no injuries reported, as the embassy was empty of staff during the early morning hours when the attack occurred. In response to the incident, the embassy issued a travel advisory for U.S. citizens in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran, advising them to remain in place and avoid visiting the embassy until further notice.
