DSI and Energy Department Conduct Inspection at Phra Khanong Oil Depot

Phra khanong: Officials from the Department of Energy Business, in cooperation with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), inspected the Phra Khanong oil depot to verify that price notices and oil price reports were being displayed as ordered by the Prime Minister, following reports of insufficient oil supply at some gas stations. Mr. Chatchai Khunlohit, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Energy Business, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Woranan Srilam, Director of the Consumer Protection Division and spokesperson for the Department of Special Investigation, and their team, inspected the Phra Khanong oil depot in Khlong Toei. This depot stores oil for sale to service stations and dealers, or jobbers, in Bangkok and surrounding areas. The inspection aimed to verify whether the operations complied with the recently announced order from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchai stated that this inspection focused on two key issues: the posting of fuel prices and the reporting of daily fuel sales data, which operators are required to report every day by 6:00 PM. The inspection also included providing guidance to operators to ensure compliance with government regulations. The reason we chose to inspect this particular oil depot is because it plays a crucial role in distributing oil to service stations in Bangkok and surrounding provinces. We wanted to verify whether the oil management and distribution processes were following proper procedures, especially during a time when many areas were experiencing fuel shortages at service stations.

The audit also covers compliance with directives related to fuel price labeling, as well as directives concerning fuel reserves and management. Any non-compliance could impact the supply of fuel in the market. Pol. Lt. Col. Woranan added that today, officers inspected a total of eight locations in four provinces. He stated that the specific locations would be determined after the officers had completed their on-site inspections, but they primarily concern fuel depots that distribute fuel to service stations. A summary of the inspection results will be released this afternoon. Meanwhile, during the search, oil tankers continued to arrive to pick up oil at all times.
