Sa kaeo: Eastern forces have successfully rescued a Chinese man who sustained injuries after stepping on a landmine while attempting an illegal border crossing in an uncleared area.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. on November 29, 2015, when Border Patrol Police officers from the 4th Border Patrol Police Task Force Company reported hearing an explosion near the uncleared area of the 1st NCO Regiment in the Nong Chan border area. The report was swiftly communicated to the 4th Border Patrol Police Company Commander, who then informed the 12th Task Force Commander. In response, a drone was deployed for situation assessment, and the Burapha Task Force Commander authorized the 1st Humanitarian Mine Clearance Unit (1NCO Regiment) to conduct an emergency rescue operation. Border Patrol Police officers and soldiers from the 12th Task Force were assigned to provide protection for the mine-clearing team.
Upon reaching the location of the injured man, the mine-clearing team discovered him attempting first aid and calling for help in a mix of English and Chinese. Showing signs of shock, the team provided additional first aid and transported him to Khok Sung Hospital for further medical treatment.
The injured individual is currently under medical care at Khok Sung Hospital. Meanwhile, investigators from Khok Sung Police Station are coordinating an initial investigation into the incident and have notified the Sa Kaeo Immigration Police to further investigate the circumstances of the illegal border crossing.
