Ekniti Highlights 17% Growth in Real Estate Transfers Amid Solar Initiatives

Bangkok:Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, announced a significant recovery in the real estate sector, with residential property transfers increasing by 17% in the first half of 2026. This growth follows the government's reduction of transfer and mortgage registration fees, aiming to stimulate the market.

According to Thai News Agency, Ekniti also emphasized the continuation of green loans with a 2.5% interest rate to support solar rooftop installations, which are intended to reduce electricity costs. Additionally, bank guarantees are being issued to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) reduce risk and access credit.

The 50th Home and Condo Expo, which Ekniti presided over, is expected to generate 10 billion baht in economic value. The event, under the theme "The Future of Sustainable Living," highlights the importance of the real estate sector as a key economic driver. It aims to shift focus from price competition to value-based living by incorporating sustainability concepts and reducing living costs through technology and innovation.

Amid global challenges such as volatility, war, and climate change, the government is accelerating the country's transition to a green economy. The expo showcases over 1,000 residential projects and promotes energy-efficient home loans, encouraging citizens to become energy producers by selling electricity back to the grid.

The Government Housing Bank (GHB) has launched the "One Home Per Person Plus" project, offering low-interest rates to facilitate housing access. Collaborations with state financial institutions aim to support green loans and solar panel installations at low interest rates, enhancing the domestic supply chain and providing financial support to SMEs and contractors involved in energy-efficient projects.
