Elderly Man Killed in Tragic Tuk-Tuk Accident on Bangkok’s Kanchanaphisek Road

Bangkok: A 76-year-old man, identified as Mr. Sompis, lost his life in a tragic accident on Kanchanaphisek Road in the Thawi Watthana district of Bangkok when a pickup truck rear-ended his tuk-tuk. The impact of the collision resulted in Mr. Sompis being thrown from his vehicle and subsequently run over by a 22-wheel trailer truck. According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred at approximately 9:30 PM on February 25th, when Taling Chan police station received reports of the fatal incident. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered Mr. Sompis's body crushed beneath the trailer truck. Nearby, the severely damaged green public tricycle was found along with the pickup truck that had initially rear-ended it. The trailer truck involved in the secondary collision was parked in the far left lane of the expressway, with the driver awaiting police investigation. Witnesses at the scene, who were engaged in road surface repairs, reported seeing the pickup truck collide with the tuk-tuk, causing it to cr ash into a barrier. This resulted in Mr. Sompis being ejected from his vehicle and subsequently run over by the approaching trailer truck, leading to his immediate death. Police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from the scene and have questioned both the truck driver and the pickup truck driver to gather more information for legal proceedings. Rescue workers have transported the deceased for an autopsy, and efforts are underway to notify the relatives for funeral arrangements.
