Bangkok: An elderly man on a motorcycle breached security at the Government House, causing a stir as he demanded to see Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The man, wearing a blue shirt similar to a taxi driver's uniform and a helmet marked with a disability symbol, bypassed police checkpoints and rode directly to the steps of the Thai Khu Fah building, honking his horn and repeatedly shouting for Mr. Anutin.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred shortly after Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had left the premises. The man claimed he had been treated unfairly and was demanding compensation. Special Branch police attempted to negotiate with him, but he continued to cry and shout, asserting his suffering and pleading for sympathy. He identified himself as a lifelong member of the Bhumjaithai Party and mentioned connections to Mr. Newin Chidchob and Mr. Sophon Saram. The police eventually escorted him away from the Government House on motorcycles.
Reporters on the scene noted that the man managed to cross the Chaimarutchet Bridge and evade security measures by entering through Gate 2, a heavily secured point reserved for the Prime Minister's entry and exit. This breach emphasized potential vulnerabilities in security protocols at the Government House.
The man involved in the incident has a history of filing complaints with political parties, often citing a past accident as the basis for his compensation demands. He had previously visited the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters on two occasions, where representatives of Mr. Anutin accepted his complaints.
