Bangkok: The emergency decree for borrowing to compensate for the oil fund has not yet been submitted to the Cabinet. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, the Finance Minister, has rejected the decree, stating it will not be considered by the Cabinet today.
According to Thai News Agency, Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas announced that the Ministry of Energy is planning to issue an emergency decree to secure a loan, with the Ministry of Finance acting as guarantor. This move aims to improve the liquidity of the Fuel Fund, which is currently grappling with a debt crisis due to ongoing fuel price subsidies. Despite the urgency, Ekniti confirmed that the matter would not be presented at today's Cabinet meeting.
When further questioned about the potential for future submission, Minister Ekniti chose not to provide additional details. Instead, he raised his hand to decline further comment and proceeded to enter the cabinet meeting, leaving the timeline for the decree's submission uncertain.
