Ex-Boyfriend Arrested for Family Murder and Burial in Cassava Field

Nakhon sawan: Police have arrested Mr. Samart, 43, the ex-boyfriend of the victims' daughter, following the murder of a family of three whose bodies were buried in a cassava field in Nakhon Sawan province. Today, authorities took him to the crime scene to reenact the events as part of his confession. However, the victims' relatives suspect he did not act alone.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Samart has been detained by police at Phaisali Police Station for further questioning, particularly regarding the movement of the bodies, as there are doubts about whether he committed the crime independently. The investigation revealed that Mr. Samart had been previously charged by the victims, Mr. Huay, 78, and Mrs. Tim, 69, for stealing 60,000 baht, leading to an arrest warrant.

Upon learning of the warrant, Mr. Samart confronted Mr. Huay and fatally stabbed him. He then attempted to coerce his ex-wife, Mrs. Phawitporn, and mother-in-law, Mrs. Tim, into withdrawing their assets but failed due to joint account requirements. In a fit of rage, he murdered both women.

Subsequently, Mr. Samart transported the bodies in a pickup truck to a cassava field in Moo 6, Kok Duea Subdistrict, Phaisali District, where he buried them before fleeing. He was later captured by the Crime Suppression Division police in Chonburi Province. The victims' relatives, present during the reenactment, voiced their dissatisfaction and suspicion that Mr. Samart had accomplices, demanding severe legal consequences.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Narevich Sukonthawit, Commander of the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Police, is overseeing the case, ensuring comprehensive evidence collection for a just trial.
