Bangkok: An explosive device was discovered in front of the Krung Thai Bank, Bang Khun Non branch, in Bangkok Noi District. This morning, police officers from Bang Khun Non Police Station were alerted to a suspicious object found at the bank's entrance. They swiftly responded and coordinated with Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers to address the potential threat.
According to Thai News Agency, the device was identified as an MK 2 explosive, found amidst trash along the roadside. Garbage collectors discovered the object while sorting trash that morning and quickly informed the authorities. The police promptly cordoned off the area to ensure public safety and collaborated with EOD officers to safely remove the device.
Further investigations revealed that the trash collection point near the bank is where garbage is typically sorted and collected every morning. The bank's security guard confirmed this routine, which may have inadvertently led to the device going unnoticed initially.
Investigators from Bang Khun Non Police Station are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to track down the individual responsible for discarding the explosive device. It is suspected that the person abandoned the device out of fear of legal consequences.
