Bang pa-in: A factory worker was shot and critically injured on Rojana Road, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, in a shocking incident that has left local authorities in a race against time to apprehend the suspect. The victim, identified as Mr. Ballang, 33, from Suphan Buri Province, was attacked around midnight in front of a used car dealership in Sam Ruean Subdistrict.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured the harrowing moment when Mr. Ballang, who was riding on the back of a motorcycle, dismounted and was subsequently shot in the face by an assailant on a second motorcycle. Both riders sped away from the scene, leaving Mr. Ballang in critical condition. Rescue workers from the Phutthaisawan Foundation responded quickly, providing first aid and CPR before coordinating with Asia Hospital's emergency medical services to transport him to Rajathani Hospital.
Bang Pa-in police are currently examining clear CCTV footage to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. Initial investigations suggest that the individuals involved were acquainted, and the incident may have been planned. A witness reported seeing Mr. Ballang riding pillion on the first motorcycle, followed by another bike whose rider, dressed similarly to the victim, fired a single shot before fleeing. The witness described both riders as appearing intoxicated.
Pol. Col. Phiphop Naputra, Superintendent of Bang Pa-in Police Station, stated that officers are conducting interviews and reviewing footage to establish connections between those involved. The possibility that the motorcycle driver, who brought the victim to the scene, may have been complicit in the attack is also being explored. Authorities are working to determine the relationships and motives behind the attack.
Mr. Ballang remains in critical condition, receiving intensive medical care. Meanwhile, investigators are meticulously tracking the suspect's escape route and gathering evidence to expedite their arrest and prosecution.
In a recent development, Pol. Col. Phumthatch Khositwanichpong, Deputy Commander of the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Police, held an urgent meeting with the investigative team to accelerate the search for the suspect. The suspect has been identified as a coworker of the victim, part of a group known for socializing and drinking together. However, the motive for the shooting remains unclear as Mr. Ballang continues to fight for his life in the ICU.
