Zurich: Kevin Lamour, the third-highest official at the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), has officially parted ways with the organization after openly criticizing FIFA President Gianni Infantino's plan to sell shares in major competitions to private investors. This resignation comes amid increasing pressure and scrutiny over Infantino's management.
According to Thai News Agency, a FIFA spokesperson released a statement saying, "FIFA confirms that the working relationship between FIFA and Kevin L'Amour, Chief Operating Officer (COO), has ended on August 17, 2026. We thank him for his work over the past two years and wish him all the best for his future endeavors."
For Lamour, a former executive from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), who has held the position of COO of FIFA since November 2024, he became one of the top executives to oppose Infantino's idea of bringing private funds into major tournaments, including the World Cup. Lamour clearly stated that the project was simply "a one-man project."
