Bangkok:A fire engulfed a road marking truck on the Borommaratchachonnani elevated expressway in Bangkok, resulting in serious injuries to three people and minor injuries to two others. The incident occurred on the inbound lanes, approximately 2 kilometers from Highway 3, in the Salathamsop Subdistrict, Thawi Watthana District.
According to Thai News Agency, the truck, an orange six-wheeled Hino with a closed steel cage structure, was equipped for spraying or applying paint for road markings. It was completely destroyed by the intense fire. Emergency responders from the elevated expressway police station and the Ruam Katanyu Foundation, along with fire trucks from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, arrived promptly to extinguish the flames. Fortunately, no one was trapped inside the vehicle.
The fire started while the truck was performing its routine duties. The driver and assistant driver were alerted by three workers in the rear cab about the fire breaking out in the road marking machine. Despite immediate efforts to stop the truck and rescue the workers, the fire spread rapidly, causing burn injuries to all five individuals on board. The injured were provided with first aid at the scene before being transported to Siriraj Hospital and Rajpipat Hospital for further treatment.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire by reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to establish what led to the incident.
