Nonthaburi: A massive fire broke out at a warehouse producing eyeglass lenses in Nonthaburi province. 133 workers fled in panic. Firefighters are still battling the blaze while intermittent explosions are being heard.
According to Thai News Agency, the fire erupted at a large factory producing lenses and eyeglasses in Laharn Subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. The four-story building was on site with 133 workers fleeing in panic. The fire is currently out of control, with flames and thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
More than 10 fire trucks have been deployed to combat the rapidly spreading blaze, which is fueled by highly flammable materials like chemicals and lenses inside. The fire originated on the lower floor. Workers attempted to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers, but to no avail, followed by a series of explosions caused by chemicals. All workers have been safely evacuated.
Authorities are continuing to spray water to control the fire. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are under investigation.
