Rasi Salai: A violent altercation occurred during the Bun Bang Fai festival in Rasi Salai District, Sisaket Province, as teenagers from a neighboring village assaulted local youths at a Morlam stage performance, leaving several injured.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident was publicized through a Facebook post by a user named 'Nong Bom, Sis Je Nang', who shared a video capturing the chaotic fight. The confrontation involved teenagers using chairs and bottles as weapons during a folk music performance held in the village at midnight on May 4. The scene, located near the temple church of Wat Het Phueng Nong Kam, was littered with broken bottles, glass, and chairs after the melee.
A 32-year-old injured party reported that she had returned home specifically for the annual rocket festival and attended the Morlam sing performance that night. The event attracted a mix of local and visiting teenagers. Past midnight, she witnessed the aggressors grabbing her nephew, prompting her intervention. Her attempt to help led to a scuffle, during which she was assaulted with bottles and chairs until she lost consciousness. She emphasized her lack of familiarity with the attackers, citing her infrequent visits home due to work in another province. Alongside her, numerous others were also victimized. Concerned about justice, she revealed plans to unite with other victims to file complaints and pursue legal action against the attackers.
In response, the Rasi Salai Police Station Chief has deployed an investigation team to uncover evidence regarding the perpetrators. He has also collaborated with the village headman to encourage injured parties or witnesses to file formal complaints, aiming for swift identification and prosecution of those responsible.
