Four Teenagers Arrested for Fatal Assault on Myanmar Migrant Worker

Nakhon ratchasima: Four teenagers have been arrested for the fatal assault of a Myanmar migrant worker in Nakhon Ratchasima. The teenagers confessed to having no prior acquaintance with the victim and admitted to an argument that escalated into the attack.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place on May 20th near the railway tracks on Jira Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District. The victim, Mr. Aung Kyaw Soe, 35, was discovered with a stab wound to the chest. Witnesses reported hearing what sounded like an argument and upon investigation, found Mr. Soe injured. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police arrested the four teenagers involved in the incident on May 22, 2026. The perpetrators include Mr. Papangkorn, 19, who inflicted the fatal stab wound; a 15-year-old who kicked the victim and recorded the incident; another 15-year-old who participated in the assault and owned the filming device; and a 13-year-old who struck the victim with a helmet.

Further investigation revealed that Mr. Papangkorn had a criminal history with two theft convictions and was recently released from prison in April 2026. The other three suspects had no prior criminal records. None of the teenagers had outstanding arrest warrants at the time of their apprehension.

The investigation confirmed that the teenagers and Mr. Soe were strangers prior to their encounter near the railway tracks, where an argument led to the deadly assault. The police have charged the suspects with "jointly assaulting another person resulting in death" and are continuing with legal proceedings. A 14-centimeter-long pocket knife, used in the attack, has been seized as evidence.
