Bangkok: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officially launched global superstar and actress Lalisa 'Lisa' Manobal as the "Amazing Thailand Ambassador" on Wednesday, part of a high-profile "Feel All the Feelings" campaign aimed at revitalizing the nation's tourism sector.
According to Thai News Agency, the K-pop icon and Blackpink member made a grand entrance at Bangkok's historic Wat Arun, or the Temple of Dawn. Clad in a shimmering gold dress, she walked a red carpet set against the backdrop of the 17th-century riverside landmark, a move intended to project Thailand's cultural heritage to a global audience.
Under the new partnership, Lisa will act as the face of Thai tourism, showcasing the country's "unique charm and beauty" through her personal perspective to the eyes of international tourists.
The event also marked the world premiere of the campaign's flagship commercial, "Feel All the Feelings." The film features Lisa alongside Thai screen stars Metawin "Win" Opas-iamkajorn, Kanawut "Gulf" Traipipattanapong, and Pongtiwat "Blue" Tangwancharoen, as they travel through various Thai scenic destinations.
On stage, Lisa noted that Thailand's appeal extends beyond its renowned scenery and cuisine. She highlighted the unique warmth and hospitality of the Thai people, adding that the smiles and kindness she experiences every time she returns home remain the country's most significant charms.
Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the TAT, said the agency believes Lisa's influence will provide a deeper, more meaningful narrative for travelers.
"We believe that storytelling through Lisa's perspective will open new experiences for people to see Thailand in a deeper sense-full of value and meaning derived from our people, culture, and atmosphere," Thapanee said.
The TAT is also calling on Thai citizens to be "good hosts" to ensure a high-quality experience for international visitors as the country seeks to solidify its position as a premier global travel destination.
