Bangkok:"Got Athip," husband of "Boom Panadda," has surrendered to the Economic Crime Suppression Division to acknowledge charges of money laundering related to a foundation supporting charitable causes. He refused to answer media questions, leaving it to Boom to handle the matter alone.
According to Thai News Agency, at 830 AM at the Central Investigation Bureau headquarters, Mr. Athip Anantawan, or Got, the husband of Ms. Panadda Wongphudee, a suspect wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court on charges of "conspiracy to commit money laundering," surrendered to investigators of Division 4, Economic Crime Suppression Bureau, to acknowledge the charges. As he alighted from his private vehicle, police officers escorted him into the Pitaksanti Building at the Economic Crime Suppression Bureau for questioning.
Got Athip was wearing a black suit, a black face mask, and sunglasses, with a neutral expression. When reporters asked if he had anything to say or how he felt about Ms. Boom taking all the blame alone, he refused to answer the questions before being escorted into the building.
Earlier, at 700 AM, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) raided another residence of Boom Panadda in Ramintra 23, Anusawari Subdistrict, Bang Khen District, Bangkok. The operation was led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Pakin Kraikittichan, Deputy Commander of the Economic Crime Suppression Division 4. Upon arrival, a housekeeper opened the door, and the officers presented a search warrant before requesting permission to search the house.
Boom Panadda's eldest daughter came out to receive the search warrant from the officers. She cooperated fully and led the search. Approximately 10 minutes later, two lawyers reportedly arrived in a car to witness the search of the house.
Reports indicate that Boom Panadda started the volunteer group "Organization for Doing Good" in 2014 before officially registering it as the Organization for Doing Good Foundation in 2022. The foundation was initially located in her house at Ramintra 23, and there is even a room inside the house with the words "Organization for Doing Good Foundation" written on it.
Officials have requested to search the house, presumably to examine documents of the Charity Foundation for more evidence to support legal action against Boom Panadda and her husband.
