Government Advances Universal Design and Clean Energy Housing Initiative for Thais

Bangkok: The government is moving forward with housing for Thai people, featuring Universal Design and clean energy. The government is advancing the "Housing for Thais" project, promoting a new era of housing by emphasizing Universal Design and clean energy. The initiative aims to upgrade housing nationwide to accommodate the elderly and revitalize the Din Daeng community.

According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongsalooykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) is accelerating its proactive housing policy through the "Housing for All" project. This aims to create opportunities for all citizens to access quality housing at affordable prices, while simultaneously improving their quality of life and promoting sustainable urban development. By 2026, the National Housing Authority (NHA) aims to develop over 20,000 housing units under the concept of "Housing for All" and "Sustainable Affordable Housing," supporting purchase, rental, and long-term rental options. Measures to alleviate the financial burden on citizens are also being implemented, including rental discounts and a campaign offering ready-to-move-in homes in over 60 projects nationwide with discounts up to 20% and repayment periods up to 40 years. Simultaneously, the NHA is developing nearly 3,000 housing units for the elderly in the Bang Lamung and Rom Klao areas, fully supporting an aging society. These units are designed according to Universal Design (UD) principles to ensure safe and convenient living for senior citizens.

Furthermore, the government is accelerating urban regeneration and continuing to upgrade the Din Daeng community, while expanding development to the Huai Khwang, Ramintra, Thung Song Hong, and Bon Kai areas to increase access to quality housing and improve the quality of life for urban residents.

Simultaneously, the National Housing Authority (NHA) is moving forward with developing green communities by installing solar rooftops in housing projects and affordable housing units. It is also preparing to create "PM 2.5-free rooms" for vulnerable groups to ensure sustainable energy and environmental security in the future.
