Government Housing Bank Allocates 20 Billion Baht to Support Economically Affected Customers

Bangkok: The Government Housing Bank (GHB) has announced a significant relief package totalling 20 billion baht to assist customers impacted by the ongoing economic downturn and the rising energy crisis. This initiative aims to support customers by offering a temporary reduction in loan repayments.

According to Thai News Agency, the relief measure known as DC4 targets customers in the Special Monitoring Group (SM) who have maintained loans with the bank for at least one year and are currently facing financial difficulties. The measure allows these customers to make monthly payments of only 1,000 baht with a 0% interest rate for the initial three months. Customers can register for this program via the GHB ALL BFRIEND application until December 31, 2026.

Dr. Mahatthana Ampornphisit, Managing Director of GHB, explained that the bank is committed to supporting its customers during this challenging time. The economic impact and energy crisis, exacerbated by the conflict in the Middle East, have increased the cost of living, prompting the bank to allocate significant resources to help customers maintain their homes.

The Economic Impact Relief Measure (DC4) provides structured financial assistance as follows: for the first three months, a 0% interest rate with monthly installments of 1,000 baht; for months four to six, payments will be reduced with an interest rate of 1.90% plus 100 baht; and for months seven to twelve, the interest rate will be 2.90% plus 100 baht. Customers who pay more than the required amount will see the excess applied to any accrued interest, and after the assistance period, loans will revert to their original interest rates.

Dr. Mahatthana emphasized GHB's role as more than just a lender, positioning the bank as a trusted partner in housing. He stated that the bank is dedicated to supporting customers through every stage of their financial journey, contributing to the grassroots economy without the burden of loan repayments.

Participants in the program must provide evidence of economic hardship affecting their business or occupation. For further assistance and information, customers can contact the GH BANK Call Center or visit the bank's official social media channels.
