Bangkok: The Government Housing Bank (GHB) has introduced a series of financial measures designed to assist individuals affected by the recent floods in southern Thailand. These measures aim to alleviate the financial burden on existing GHB customers and support the rehabilitation of affected homes.
According to Thai News Agency, the GHB has launched the "Measures to Assist, Relieve, and Rehabilitate Flood Victims in Southern Thailand". This initiative includes a one-year moratorium on principal and interest payments for current GHB customers with outstanding loan balances up to 1 million baht. Additionally, GHB is offering a relief loan program with a 0% interest rate for one year for existing customers needing extra funds of up to 100,000 baht per person. Moreover, a rehabilitation loan program is available at a 0% interest rate for one year for both existing and new customers who require loans for home repairs or rebuilding.
Dr. Matthana Ampornphisit, Managing Director of GHB, emphasized the bank's commitment to assisting those affected by the floods. GHB, as a specialized state financial institution, is dedicated to implementing government and Ministry of Finance policies to provide comprehensive financial relief. The measures include programs to suspend principal payments and waive interest, offering a 0% interest rate for one year for customers with a total outstanding loan balance not exceeding 1 million baht. Interested parties can apply for this measure until January 31, 2026.
The flood relief loan program offers a 0% interest rate for one year for current GHB customers needing to borrow up to 100,000 baht to replace equipment or amenities damaged by the floods. Applications for this measure are open until March 31, 2026. Additionally, the Southern Flood Relief Loan Program provides a 0% interest rate for one year for both existing and new customers needing loans to repair or rebuild damaged buildings or purchase related equipment. The loan amount is capped at 1 million baht per individual, with applications open until June 30, 2026.
Eligible customers must have a healthy account, no non-performing loans, and collateral located in flood-affected areas as declared by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). These areas include 10 provinces, 101 districts, and 591 sub-districts, such as Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Narathiwat.
GHB encourages customers wishing to participate in these programs to click the relevant banner in the GHB ALL GEN application and submit their applications along with proof of housing damage at any GH Bank branch nationwide.
