Government Whip Chief Urges Amendments to No-Confidence Motion for Agenda Inclusion

Bangkok: ‘Wisut’ believes that the House Speaker will not include the agenda if the censure motion is not amended. Mr. Wisut Chainarun, MP for the Pheu Thai Party and Chief Whip of the Government, revealed that the meeting of the whips of both parties and the representatives of the Cabinet to consider the time frame for the no-confidence debate will only happen if Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, first includes the opposition’s no-confidence motion. If the opposition refuses to amend the motion as the Speaker of the House of Representatives has objected, it is expected that the no-confidence motion will not be included.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisut also cited an example of the time when Mr. Chuan Leekpai was the leader of the Democrat Party and the opposition leader in 2002. At that time, the President of the House of Representatives informed him to amend and improve the motion to open a no-confidence debate for individual ministers. The opposition at that time made some amendments to the contents according to the objections of the President of the House of Representatives in order to cooperate as the President of the House informed and to ensure that the meeting in the said motion proceeded smoothly.
