According to Thai News Agency, at Surin Hospital, Mr. Chamroen Wanphet, Governor of Surin Province, presented a vase of flowers and a basket of gifts from His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen to Private Dejsak Trikham, who was injured after stepping on an anti-personnel landmine. The explosion resulted in the amputation of his right leg, and his left leg sustained a large open wound and partial fractures.
The incident occurred while Private Trikham was on duty within the controlled area of the Erawan Base, Chong Rayi, on the Thai-Cambodian border in Kab Choeng District, Surin Province, on February 27th. Doctors and nurses at Surin Hospital have been closely monitoring his condition, which is improving.
