Heavy Traffic on Mittraphap Road as Holidaymakers Return to Bangkok

PAK CHONG: The last day of the New Year holiday has resulted in heavy traffic on Mittraphap Road in the Pak Chong District, as travelers make their way back to Bangkok. Despite the congestion, traffic continues to move steadily, albeit at reduced speeds.

According to Thai News Agency, the increased traffic is due to people returning to Bangkok after celebrating the New Year in their hometowns. With work resuming for many on January 2nd, significant slowdowns have been noted along several key points on the route. Notable congestion spots include Km. 52 in front of Chokchai Farm and the curve at Km. 53-54 near Ban Dai Ma, where vehicles are slowing down considerably. The bypass road under the overpass at the Khao Yai entrance is also experiencing heavy traffic in all four lanes.

Nakhon Ratchasima Highway Police have been proactive in managing the situation, deploying traffic cones and preparing to open special lanes if the traffic becomes stationary. Authorities anticipate an increase in traffic volume from the afternoon into the night, with expectations of further congestion as travelers complete their journeys back to the capital.
