Helicopter Deployment and “Fire Tiger” Firefighters Mobilized for National Wildfire Response

Bangkok: Helicopters are deployed for surveying and firefighting; "Fire Tiger" firefighters are on standby nationwide 24 hours a day. The government is accelerating efforts to combat wildfires and haze, and is urging the public to refrain from burning in open areas.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that due to the dry and extremely hot weather in many areas of the country, there is an increased risk of wildfires and haze. The government is concerned about the well-being of people in all areas and has instructed relevant agencies to intensify surveillance around the clock.

The deputy spokesperson stated that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has established a forest fire monitoring center covering all regions. The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation and the Royal Forest Department continuously monitor hotspots and deploy personnel to affected areas immediately upon detection. This is done in integrated cooperation with provincial natural resources and Environment offices, local administrative organizations, volunteers, and communities in the area.

When hotspots or wildfires are detected, the special wildfire fighting unit "Fire Tigers" will immediately deploy to control the blaze. This is done in conjunction with helicopter surveys of the situation and aerial water drops to extinguish fires, allowing rapid access to remote areas. Simultaneously, ground teams create firebreaks and contain the spread of the fire in high-risk areas nationwide.

The deputy spokesperson emphasized the need for public cooperation in refraining from all types of open burning to reduce the risk of wildfires and PM2.5 air pollution. If any illegal burning or smoke is observed, please report it to local authorities immediately so that the situation can be controlled promptly. Let's all work together to protect natural resources and safeguard public health.
