Infant’s Body Discovered in Trash Can in Charoen Krung

Bangkok: A sanitation worker made a grim discovery in Soi Charoen Krung 58, where a baby's body was found in a trash can. The worker, while performing routine garbage collection near Saphan Pla, stumbled upon the body inside a garbage bag and promptly alerted the authorities.

According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant Colonel Lertchai Phuelongchai, the investigating officer from Yannawa Police Station, received the report and coordinated with a forensic team, a pathologist from the Police Hospital, and personnel from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation to investigate the scene. The infant, a male approximately six months into gestation, was discovered with the placenta and umbilical cord intact inside a clear plastic bag located in the back of a green garbage truck, identified by license plate 67-9755 Bangkok.

Mr. Chainarong Katisat, the sanitation worker who found the body, described the moment of discovery. While he and his colleagues were sorting through garbage bins in Soi Charoen Krung 58, they opened a bag and initially thought the baby was a doll. Upon realizing the truth, they immediately contacted the police. Chainarong expressed his shock, noting that despite his long tenure in the area, this was an unprecedented incident for him.

The body was subsequently transferred by the Ruam Katanyu Foundation to the Forensic Medicine Department of the Police Hospital, where it awaits further legal examination.
