Bangkok: Japan reports dangerously high temperatures in some areas, warning citizens to be wary of heatstroke. The Japan Meteorological Agency warned the public today to be wary of heatstroke as temperatures in some areas could reach dangerously high levels. On Monday, extreme heat swept across Japan, from the Tohoku region in the northeast to the Kyushu region in the southwest, causing temperatures to soar, particularly in the interior of the country.
According to Thai News Agency, the weather agency expects temperatures to rise again on Tuesday and remain at similar levels in many areas across the country. Daytime highs are projected to reach 40 degrees Celsius in Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture; 39 degrees Celsius in Nagoya and Maebashi; and 38 degrees Celsius in Saitama and Kofu. Meanwhile, heatstroke warnings have been issued in 42 out of Japan's 47 prefectures.
Meteorological officials advise the public to use air conditioning, drink plenty of water, and consume sufficient electrolytes to prevent heatstroke, as well as avoid prolonged outdoor activities.
