Bangkok: "Jaset" has directed the Department of Public Works to expedite the construction of flood protection dikes and deploy machinery to accelerate recovery efforts in Nan province. Mr. Jetseth Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior, visited the affected areas to oversee the response, conducting a briefing at the Nan Provincial Administrative Organization before surveying damage in Pua and Thawang Pha districts. He distributed relief supplies and provided support to flood victims in the Wat Phumin - Tha Li community, ensuring rescue personnel are on duty around the clock.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jetseth revisited Pua District to assess recovery progress as water levels receded. He instructed the Department of Public Works and Town Planning to hasten the construction of the main drainage system in Nan city, specifically areas pending completion, aiming for a sustainable solution to flooding issues. The project is planned for completion by 2027.
Mr. Pongnara Yenying, Director-General of the Department of Public Works and Town Planning, delegated Mr. Narin Kwangthong, Inspector-General, and Mr. Maruphong Tansatcha, Senior Civil Engineer, to accompany the Deputy Minister and monitor the operations closely. The department has mobilized heavy machinery, including 10 water trucks, 2 backhoes, 6 ten-wheel trucks, and 1 grader, to aid in restoring normalcy.
In Nan Municipality, three large water pumping units are operating at full capacity to rapidly drain water, safeguarding key economic zones. Authorities have confirmed that support will continue until the situation stabilizes.
