Bangkok: Jiraporn welcomed attendees of the 23rd Asia-Pacific Institute for Radio-Television Development (AIBD GC 2025). The meeting will focus on AI and countering fake news through international media cooperation, which Thailand will chair next year.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, welcomed participants to the 23rd Annual General Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Radio-Television Development (AIBD GC 2025) and related meetings via video conference. This event was attended by representatives from AIBD member countries and over 87 media networks across the Asia-Pacific region.
Ms. Jiraporn expressed her delight at Thailand's hosting of the AIBD Summit and welcomed fellow AIBD members to Phuket, known for its tourism, cultural diversity, and as an international travel destination. The summit's theme was "Media for People, Peace, and Prosperity," emphasizing the media's role in empowering citizens, fostering peace, and promoting shared prosperity for the region and the global community.
Ms. Jiraporn also congratulated Thailand on being elected Chair of the AIBD General Assembly (AIBD GC) for the next term. The AIBD GC Chair will influence communication and cooperation among member countries in the Asia-Pacific region. She highlighted the recognition of Thai media's role by international media. The Public Relations Department aims to expedite and promote responsible, modern media that positively impacts society, especially in an era where technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are pivotal. This initiative will focus on presenting facts and combating fake news that adversely affects the public.
