Bangkok: Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, leader of the Thai Sang Thai Party, took to Facebook to publicly defend her daughter, Jinny Yotsuda, after Dome Pakorn Lam admitted to making inappropriate comments about her. Sudarat emphasized her unwavering stance against sexual harassment, urging society to uphold the dignity of all women.
According to Thai News Agency, Sudarat expressed her determination to protect her daughter despite her current health challenges. She stated, "As a mother, I stand firmly on the grounds of sexual harassment against my daughter. Even though my physical condition is not strong at the moment, I cannot remain silent."
Sudarat further elaborated on her role in supporting her party during her illness, noting that unforeseen circumstances have compelled her to prioritize defending her daughter's dignity. She stated, "I had to stand up and fulfill my duty as a mother, protecting the dignity of my daughter and all women to the fullest extent. Such an incident should never happen to anyone, regardless of gender."
Highlighting the seriousness of the issue, Sudarat remarked, "The comments made in this instance are not a joke; they are an infringement on human dignity, gender equality, and constitute a violation and a crime."
She concluded by expressing gratitude to those who have supported Jinny, asserting that this fight for justice extends beyond her daughter. "This call for justice is not just for Jinny, but to affirm that sexual harassment in any form and against anyone is unacceptable in Thai society, and that perpetrators must be held accountable for their actions both socially and legally."
