Bangkok:Korn Chatikavanij, a list Member of Parliament and deputy leader of the Democrat Party, is concentrating on the upcoming no-confidence debate. His focus remains on whether the opposition leader will submit a motion under Article 152.
According to Thai News Agency, Korn has commented on speculations that the opposition party may propose a general debate motion without a vote under Article 152 before the no-confidence debate. If such a motion is indeed proposed, Korn stated that the Democrat Party would need to engage in discussions with the party's whips, though he has not yet engaged in such discussions himself.
Korn emphasized that his current efforts are directed toward preparing for the no-confidence debate under Article 151, adhering to the established timeline. He mentioned that if the People's Party initiates a dialogue with the Democrat Party regarding the submission of an Article 152 motion, they are open to discussions. However, they await the opposition leader's clarification on their principles and rationale for such a move.
When questioned about the potential impact of a general debate motion being submitted alongside the no-confidence debate, Korn reiterated that their primary concentration remains on the no-confidence debate, which has been clearly outlined.
