Lak Si District Director Ensures Smooth Voting Process Amid Referendum

Bangkok: The director of Lak Si district conducted an inspection of polling stations in District 8, ensuring the public comprehended the referendum process efficiently. The inspection took place at a polling station in Thung Song Hong, where it was noted that citizens had a clear understanding of the procedures involved in the ongoing referendum.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Amarin Jarutamara, Director of Lak Si District, visited polling stations 53 and 54 in Constituency 8, located in Thung Song Hong Subdistrict. The inspection specifically included the tent set up at the parking area of UCI Media Co., Ltd., in front of Beverly Hills Village. He emphasized the need for coordination with the 11th Military District to facilitate the gradual casting of votes by soldiers, aiming to alleviate overcrowding and minimize long queues.

Mr. Amarin detailed that the area hosts two polling stations: Unit 53, which is a military-run station with over 1,000 voters, and Unit 54, accommodating approximately 631 voters. Preparations at the polling sites began as early as 5:00 AM, with staff receiving ballots and ensuring everything was in place for the voters.

He further explained that efforts had been made in advance to inform the public about the process, emphasizing that after voting for constituency and party-list MPs, voters would need to present themselves once more to obtain a referendum ballot. This streamlined approach was expected to enhance the voting experience by requiring only a single visit to the polling station.

Addressing concerns about potential overcrowding at polling station 53, Mr. Amarin mentioned plans to collaborate with the 11th Military District in the future. The objective would be to stagger the voting times for soldiers, thereby reducing congestion and ensuring a smoother voting process for all involved.
