Bangkok: In a shocking turn of events involving the brutal murder of a 35-year-old man in Udon Thani, police have announced the pressing of two serious charges against a suspect identified as "Mr. Thung." The victim, known as Mr. Somsak or Mr. Tong, was found decapitated with his genitals severed, and his body bearing more than seven stab wounds in a hut located in Ban Suk Sabai, Village No. 12, Phon Sung Subdistrict, Ban Dung District, Udon Thani Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the investigation led to the discovery of Mr. Tong's head hidden in a paint bucket next to the hut of the suspect, Mr. Nirut or Mr. Thung. Additionally, police found preserved brain and head fragments in soda bottles. Despite the mounting evidence, Mr. Thung denies any involvement, asserting his innocence during extensive police interrogations.
The suspect's mother expressed disbelief at the allegations against her son. She visited him and heard his denial, which he affirmed under oath in front of a Buddha statue. She acknowledged her son's struggles with mental illness and substance abuse, citing his past battle with leptospirosis that led to his current state. She revealed that Mr. Thung had been living in a hut she built for him due to his condition.
Pol. Col. Pongphan Nakwa, Superintendent of Ban Dung Police Station, confirmed that forensic evidence and findings from the scene strongly implicate Mr. Thung. The police are preparing to charge him with "intentional homicide" and "concealing and disposing of a corpse," despite his continued denial.
