Chachoengsao: A 43-year-old man has died after falling into a cassava starch silo that was more than 10 meters deep, in a tragic incident at a warehouse in Moo 1, Bang Pakong District. His wife was left in shock after discovering his legs protruding from the pile of starch.
According to Thai News Agency, the deceased, identified as Mr. Boonma, fell from above into the deep silo and was subsequently covered by a massive pile of cassava starch that slid down on him. This caused him to suffocate, leading to his death. The event occurred while his wife, Ms. Sopha, and their daughter were working at the bottom of the silo. Upon noticing his legs, she immediately alerted other workers.
The workers spent over 10 minutes digging through the starch to retrieve Mr. Boonma's body, but their efforts were in vain as he was already deceased by the time they reached him. Police initially speculate that Mr. Boonma had climbed to the top of the silo to inspect the flour. However, the flour-covered floor gave way, causing him to fall and become trapped under the starch.
