These weather conditions are attributed to a monsoon trough affecting the upper North and Northeast and a strong southwest monsoon influencing the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, the 24-hour weather forecast for August 7, 2026, predicts potential flash floods and landslides due to the intense rainfall, especially in slope areas near waterways and low-lying regions. Mariners are cautioned as wave heights in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are expected to reach 2-3 meters, with even higher waves during thunderstorms. Small boats are advised to avoid venturing out to sea in these areas.
In addition, Typhoon "Dolphin," currently in the Pacific Ocean, is projected to pass through Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, on August 6-7, 2026, and is expected to make landfall in Zhejiang Province, China, on August 9-10, 2026. The typhoon is not predicted to move towards Thailand, but travelers to these areas are advised to monitor weather forecasts closely before departure.
The 7-day weather forecast from August 7 to 13, 2026, indicates persistent heavy rainfall in many areas of Thailand, with intensified wave conditions continuing in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand. Waves may reach up to 4 meters during thunderstorms. From August 10 to 11, a decrease in rainfall is expected in the lower Southern region, while heavy rain will continue in the upper Northeast and other regions due to the shifting monsoon trough.
As the period progresses to August 12-13, 2026, rainfall is expected to decrease, but heavy rain will persist in the North and western parts of the Central region. Wave conditions are predicted to weaken slightly but remain hazardous during thunderstorms.
