Ratchaburi: Authorities seized methamphetamine pills and heroin worth over 100 million baht. The Narcotics Suppression Police, in collaboration with Pak Tho Police Station in Ratchaburi Province, seized 6.8 million methamphetamine pills and 100 kg of heroin, with a total value exceeding 100 million baht, hidden in a truck carrying rice.
According to Thai News Agency, Central Investigation Bureau police and Pak Tho Police Station officers inspected the scene on the roadside in Pak Tho District, Ratchaburi Province. They found a white 10-wheel truck with a Suphanburi license plate. The truck's bed was concealed with over 100 sacks of rice, seemingly to deceive authorities. Upon inspection, the sacks were found to contain a large quantity of methamphetamine pills and heroin hidden inside. One passenger, Mr. Suwan, claimed he was asked to ride along to deliver the rice and was unaware of the drugs. The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Initially, 6.8 million methamphetamine pills and 300 blocks of heroin were found, weighing approximately 100 kg, with a total value exceeding 100 million baht. Upon inspecting the sacks containing the methamphetamine, it was discovered that they had been modified into shoulder bags, suggesting the drugs were likely smuggled in through the northern border.
This is a follow-up to the arrest of drug users by police in Chiang Rai province, who found evidence on a mobile phone including images of the seized truck and numerous sacks of drugs.
