Chachoengsao: A milk delivery truck experienced a tire blowout on the motorway, which resulted in a significant traffic disruption stretching over 5 kilometers. The incident occurred when a pickup truck, loaded with milk, veered off course due to the blowout and overturned, causing severe injuries to the driver's girlfriend.
According to Thai News Agency, highway police and rescue units from Chachoengsao and the Motorway responded to the accident. The overturned pickup truck blocked all lanes of the motorway at kilometer marker 53, heading inbound towards Chonburi, in Tha Kham Subdistrict, Bang Pakong District, Chachoengsao Province. The vehicle, with a blown-out right rear tire, had overturned on its side, blocking two lanes and scattering crates of bottled milk across the motorway, leading to a complete obstruction of all lanes.
The driver, 23-year-old Mr. Sittikan Jamkhuntien, sustained abrasions, while his girlfriend, Ms. Jutamas Srianong, 25, suffered a severe leg injury as she was trapped under the vehicle. Rescuers employed hydraulic cutters to lift the vehicle and free the couple before administering first aid. Both were subsequently transported to Chularat 11 Hospital for further medical care.
During questioning, Mr. Sittikan explained that while he was delivering milk to Rayong with his girlfriend, the tire explosion caused the truck to swerve and overturn. The resulting spillage of milk crates across the road led to a traffic jam that extended nearly 5 kilometers.
