Bangkok: The Minister of Justice has clarified that the decision regarding the summons of "Chonnapat" rests with the discretion of the Parliament.
According to Thai News Agency, the Minister of Justice, Police Lieutenant General Ruttapol Nawarat, discussed the process of issuing a summons to Mr. Chanonphat Naksua, a Member of Parliament from Songkhla Province. He noted that the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is expected to refer the matter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The Speaker will then decide if a House resolution is necessary to proceed with the summons, as stated under Article 125 of the Constitution.
The Minister emphasized that the decision depends on the discretion of the House, which will determine whether the offense is of a personal nature or affects the public. Importantly, the DSI does not have the authority to intervene in this decision-making process.
