Bangkok: The Ministry of Culture is organizing an exhibition to celebrate National Artists and the National Artists of 2024, complemented by a congratulatory reception for the honorees of 2024.
According to Thai News Agency, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, Minister of Culture, appointed Ms. Sarasanan Arnoporn, Secretary to the Minister of Culture, to lead the opening ceremony of the exhibition titled "Siri Silapin, National Artists, and National Artists of 2024." The event, held at the Thailand Cultural Centre, Department of Cultural Promotion, also included a reception to honor the National Artists of 2024. Key attendees were Ms. Yutika Isarangkun Na Ayutthaya, Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion; Mr. Teerapat Prayoonsiddhi, Board Member of the Cultural Promotion Fund; ministry executives; National Artists; and media personnel.
Ms. Sarasanan Arnoporn emphasized the significance of National Artists and Royal Artists, describing them as sages with deep knowledge and skills in various art forms. Their contributions are vital to society and the nation, and the Ministry of Culture is committed to supporting them. In 2026, the ministry's goal is to elevate Thai culture as a driving force in economic, social, and international dimensions.
The Secretary highlighted the exhibition's role in spreading knowledge about Siri Silapin and National Artists, inspiring the youth and public to preserve and develop cultural heritage. The ceremony included presenting flowers and garlands to the artists and a ribbon-cutting event to officially open the exhibition.
At a subsequent reception, Ms. Sarasanan Arnnophaporn celebrated the National Artists of 2024, acknowledging the National Culture Committee's recognition on August 27, 2025. Notably, Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak was honored as National Artist in Visual Arts (Painting) for 2024. Ten other artists were also recognized across various fields, including Painting, Literature, Thai music, and dance.
The Secretary applauded these artists' contributions to preserving and transmitting arts and culture. She noted the government's history of honoring individuals as National Artists and wished them continued success in creating cultural heritage for future generations.
The exhibition and celebratory reception featured cultural activities, performances, and video presentations, offering a comprehensive cultural experience to attendees. The Department of Cultural Promotion has opened the exhibition until July 31, 2026, inviting the public to explore and be inspired by the works of the National Artists of 2024.
