Bangkok: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning to Thai citizens to evacuate the Middle East, with a particular emphasis on Israel, due to escalating conflicts in the region. The Ministry highlighted that two more Thai nationals are scheduled to return from Iran tomorrow, while another group is expected to arrive on March 25. To date, a total of 1,149 Thais have been successfully evacuated.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Panidol Patchimsawat, Acting Director-General of the Department of Information and Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, communicated updates from the Center for Monitoring and Surveillance of the Conflict in the Middle East (CMSSE). The situation has worsened with intensified attacks involving Israel, Lebanon, Iran, and the United States, alongside ongoing missile and drone threats to Gulf Arab states. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz continues to affect global oil prices.
In light of these developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Thai citizens to leave high-risk areas immediately, stay informed through official channels, and ensure that their contact information is registered with the embassy.
Efforts to assist Thai nationals in the region are ongoing. The Thai Foreign Minister recently engaged in discussions with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and the Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, expressing gratitude for their support in facilitating evacuations, especially noting Jordan's role as a crucial transit point for returning citizens. The Thai Foreign Minister also reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to supporting allied nations amid the crisis.
Two Thai citizens have already left Iran for Van, Turkey, and are scheduled to return to Thailand on March 19th. Additional evacuations are planned for March 25th, with officials closely monitoring border transit points.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv has cautioned Thai citizens in Israel to remain vigilant due to the potential for heightened violence. Thai nationals are encouraged to stay informed and register with the embassy if they wish to return home. The embassy and regional consulates are actively assisting with housing, essential supplies, and repatriation efforts. Since the onset of the conflict, 1,149 Thai citizens have been evacuated, and the government remains committed to accelerating the safe evacuation process from high-risk areas.
