Bangkok: The Ministry of Interior is inviting the public to participate in a questionnaire aimed at testing the Cell Broadcast warning system across five provinces. The system is anticipated to be fully operational by July.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Traisuree Traisaranakul, Secretary to the Minister of Interior and spokesperson for the Ministry, revealed that the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) had conducted three tests of the mobile phone warning system, also known as Cell Broadcast. The tests included a small test on May 2, 2025, a medium test on May 7, 2025, and a large provincial test on May 13, 2025. Ms. Traisuree has requested the cooperation of residents in the five provinces where the latest test was conducted to complete a questionnaire. This feedback is crucial for the further development of Thailand's Cell Broadcast system, which is expected to be fully implemented by July 2025.

The Ministry, through the DDPM, plans to utilize the data collected to enhance the Cell Broadcast system. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on disaster warnings via the 'THAI DISASTER ALERT' application, available for both iOS and Android. Additionally, official updates will be shared on the Department's social media platforms, including Facebook and X @DDPMNews. In case of emergencies, citizens can report incidents or request assistance through the 'DDPM 1784 Disaster Reporting' Line by adding the Line ID @1784DDPM as a contact, or by calling the 24-hour 1784 Disaster Hotline.
