Bangkok: The Ministry of Interior invites applications from NGOs, civil society, and private business organizations to apply for selection as Thailand's representatives for the 7th ASEAN Leaders Award for Rural Development and Poverty Eradication. Applications are open until June 4, with results announced on July 9.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, stated that the Ministry, as the main coordinating agency for ASEAN cooperation on rural development and poverty eradication in Thailand, seeks to recruit organizations with exemplary performance in these areas. The 7th ASEAN Rural Development and Poverty Eradication Leadership Awards Ceremony is scheduled for 2025 and will be held at the Fourteenth ASEAN Ministers Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication, hosted by Thailand.
Mr. Arsit emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in the selection process, which is open to all sectors. Qualified organizations must demonstrate tangible results in community development, quality of life improvement, and poverty eradication, with projects implemented continuously for at least three years. Organizations that have previously received an award are not eligible. Applications can be submitted online via https://moi.go.th, by email to [email protected], or by post to the ASEAN Working Group, Foreign Affairs Division, Ministry of Interior, Bangkok.
The awards are categorized into Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) or Civil Society (CSOs) and the Private Sector, with one ASEAN Leaders Award winner in each category. Additionally, three National Leaders Awards will be given in each category, including a winner, first runner-up, and second runner-up. All awardees will receive a certificate from the Ministry of Interior, with results announced on July 9, 2025, on the Ministry's website.
Mr. Arsit concluded by highlighting that the awards not only recognize success and dedication but also enhance the recipient's image and credibility. The announcement of results on the Ministry's website broadens public awareness, leading to new opportunities and collaborations, and promoting activities that advance Thailand towards sustainable development goals.
