Bangkok: The Ministry of Interior has announced a series of initiatives for the New Year, themed "23 New Year's Gifts to Spread Happiness Across Thailand: The Ministry of Interior for the People," aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens across the country.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, revealed that these initiatives are part of a directive from Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, to alleviate suffering and promote well-being. The projects are organized into three main concepts: Building Happiness, Relieving Suffering, and Good Well-being.
The "Building Happiness" concept includes six activities such as the "OTOP Across Thailand" initiative that provides up to 25% discount coupons to boost sales via a digital platform and the creation of free selling spaces for farmers and SMEs. This initiative also aims to enhance the digital complaint system and streamline property verification processes.
Under the "Relieving Suffering" category, eight activities have been introduced, including the "Water Supply, Happiness Sharing" initiative to combat water shortages and the extension of electricity and water services to underserved areas. Additionally, measures to assist low-income earners, such as reduced interest rates at pawnshops and extended payment deadlines for electricity bills, are also included.
The "Good Well-being" segment comprises nine initiatives aimed at promoting health and environmental consciousness. These include health screenings, tree planting campaigns, and the development of public parks. There are also efforts to ensure access to clean drinking water through various water authorities and enhancements to sidewalks to meet Universal Design standards.
Mr. Arsit emphasized that the Ministry of Interior, alongside local administrative organizations, is dedicated to serving citizens nationwide with the motto "Relieving Suffering and Promoting Well-being." Citizens can acquire further information about these initiatives through the Damrongtham Center hotline 1567 or by visiting the websites of the relevant departments and state enterprises.
